I suspected as much. I also recently read on Tomshardware that even if you use alternatives to the file Explorer, you still cant avoid it all the time (for example, the Open menu in most/all programs use it as standard to display directories).

That's correct, common dialogs are part of the whole MSIE/Windows Explorer system since MSIE 5.0.
You can try to disable the MSHTML renderer so files will work but Internet browsing won't (this is what XPLite probably does), but even so, there would be problems with applications like Winamp that use the Internet Explorer control inside their own windows.

And you can't boot any games either, right? I'm afraid it's a hardware malfunction, probably related to the optical drive failing to initialize or the power supply not providing the necessary voltage for all components to start.

Damm Windows Internet integration... ??
Well, a question for dreamcast users! muy DC doesn't boot! the power system works, the fan moves, but simply, it doesn't start the operative system! what can it be?

I don't know, but maybe that the power supply is damaged. Although the fan turns on, the controller also seems to initialize, though no image is seen in the VMU unit, but it beeps when it's turned on. but, perhaps, the light doesn't turn on.

You're looking at a Dreamcast reset problem. It's very common with them. Go google something like "dreamcast reset problem" or something. You'll find the solution eventually.

I considered that, but didn't that reset the system randomly (due to a loose wire)? Melfice's can't even boot, and I suppose he has tried several times.
Edit: Here's the resetting issue explained:

I think Melfice is experiencing something different, though.

Oh, then Melfice should follow the link and fix those six wires. Thanks for the info OCB.

I will try. I guess there is nothing to lose, and Ryudo will be VERY thankful for him to be able to play Skies of Arcadia Decently again.
